Sneak Peek Jess & Jake’s Wedding
ByHi Everyone,
Jess and Jake’s wedding on the 30th of November this year was one of the most unique weddings we have had the pleasure of shooting. We met Jess and Jake earlier this year for their engagement shoot outside the Leeds Art Gallery. We instantly got on well with them and when we heard their wedding was going to be over two days we where excited to see what they had planned.
They held their ceremony at The Star Inn, Harome, North Yorkshire. We arrived early to capture some of the details beforehand, starting at 3pm is quite unusual for us so we were eager to get going! The Star Inn is believed to date back to the 14th Century, a beautiful thatched roof and the “wonky walls” held so much character. Across the road is the Cross House Lodge The Star Inn’s eight bedroom hotel which is where Jess and Jake’s day took place. Primarily decorated with hunting memorabilia, wine bottles and ornaments it had a wonderfully cosy atmosphere. The log fires were on – which were definitely needed as it was probably -1 degrees outside! – and an array of coffee table books to browse. With only 16 guests Jess and Jake took full advantage of the venue, serving mulled wine and canapes for their guests it was very cosy and personal.
While Jess got ready upstairs we captured Jake, their family and friends getting to know each other. Jake and all the guests awaited Jess’s arrival from the lower floor and watched her walk down the beautiful wooden staircase to greet them all. Chris perfectly captured Jake’s expression as Jess was walking down the stairs. Then hand in hand they went into the ceremony room with their guests following behind. With it being held at 4pm and in November we were aware that it would be quite dark, however Chris and I love working with available light and the cosy atmosphere that was apparent all day was perfect for what we had in mind. After the ceremony we took the newly married couple off for a quick photo shoot, we thought outside would be worth a try and I am so impressed with Chris’s shots. With the dark blue sky in the background and Jess and Jake in perfect light in the foreground, it makes an amazing photograph, I hope you see what I mean when you scroll down! Their meal was served on a large round wooden table, and cooked by the award-winning chef at The Star Inn – Andrew Pern who is also the owener. Capturing the preparation of the food felt very important to us as we knew that that was a big reason for choosing this venue. The food looked incredible and Chris and I are already planning our next trip back so we can experience it ourselves! Jess and Jake are a truly lovely couple and everyone on the day was so welcoming. It was great to have a wedding so unique and one we will never forget.
On the next day – 1st December – Jess and Jake had their reception held at the Leeds Art Gallery. The tiled hall at the gallery was so impressive and perfect for throwing a black tie and cocktail evening. We will be sharing that gallery with you all very soon! Hope you enjoyt the photos! And let’s hope this rain clears up soon!

What beautiful photos – the portraits are wonderful and you have also captured all the atmosphere and detail of the place, which looks very warm and welcoming. I love the outdoor night-time shots of the couple – beautifully lit.
