We have been looking forward to Stuart and Lucy’s day for a while now knowing around a year ago they had changed the date of their wedding so that we could photograph their special day. They both really understood what we aim for with our work and it fitted in perfectly with what they had planned for the day.
Verity was at Lucy’s parents house where the reception would be held and I was over with Stuart and his groomsmen in Harrogate. Their ceremony was held at the 13th Century St Michael’s Church in Kirklington, North Yorkshire – with a surprise ring bearer in the form of a Barn Owl! Stuart and Lucy are avid road cyclists and often take part in triathlon’s, as a keen road cyclist myself it was great to hear they were making a bit of a theme out of it. Each table was named after a famous cyclist and it was lovely to see how much effort had gone into all the little details.
The day went just how Stuart and Lucy had planned, the sun making a welcome appearance and for once it actually felt like spring. Going over the photos and seeing the lambs, daffodils and smiles it seems like the years weather might just be looking up at last. Finishing the night with a ceilidh and fireworks and after just shy of 14 hours shooting we headed back to Leeds, pleased with a job well done.
