Its been a busy start to the year for Chris and I, but I have finally found some time to do a bit of blogging. – Not sure how long it will last however!

Not all our wedding albums make it onto our website. Having started our business just over 2 years ago we have almost reached 100 weddings so as you can imagine thats far too many to look at!

Its rare that we ever get to show how many photographs we send our couples, it can range from 500 to over a 1000 on a full day. I thought it was important to include a few more with this post to give you a bit more of an idea of how we capture a wedding. Although is is not half what we sent them its a lot more than we could put on our website.

Simon and Vicky got married last year at Quorn Grange Hotel in Leicestershire, this has not been on our website so its a sneak peek of an unseen wedding. It was a beautiful location and the weather stayed dry for an outside ceremony. Hope you enjoy the photos!

Hope everyone is coping with the snowy weather at the moment! Although myself and Chris love the snow it disrupts things far too much, we did however manage to get some sledging in over the weekend! It has to be done!

I would like to share with you some photographs from a few of our past weddings. The wedding dress is one of the most important aspects to any weddings day – mainly the Brides most important thing! – and therefore we aim to capture the elegance and beauty of each one. We believe its so important to remember every little detail from your wedding, as often its taken 2 years to plan!

As I spend the morning of the wedding with the Bride and Chris with the Groom I have the amazing job of capturing the dress. This is often my favourite part of the day, I love the preparation shots, getting ready for the most important day of your life surely should be captured! Chris and I always look forward to going through each other’s morning shots when we get back. We get to see the wedding from the Bride and the Groom’s view – something you can only get with 2 photographers!

Chris and I have different backgrounds in photography and this really shows in the morning preparation photographs. I studied Art from a young age and then gained a BA (Hons) in Fine Art, so I love creating artistic and one off photographs, the atmosphere is something I always try to work with. Creating elegant and soft images to suit the Bride’s preparation photographs. Chris has a history with Live Music photography and gained a BA (Hons) in Film and Moving Image Production. Chris’s passion is film, he interperates the wedding day as a short film, making sure to capture every little detail. Capturing the groom’s preparations really suits Chris’s way of storytelling through photography.

Each dress has a different focal point or detail and its important to suit that to the photograph. I loved the hem of this wedding dress (above) and wanted to show the beautiful train. The lace detail is so elegant and timeless.

This dress was all about the detail. With a polka dot pattern on the lace of the dress to the diamonte sewn into the bodice, it was a very unique and contemporary dress.

This is the same dress as above, due to the shorter hem line I wanted to photograph it hung up. The room was decorated with a deep gold and red, this brought out the beauty in the lace work and contrasted with the pure white of the wedding dress.

I always think its important to capture the little things, sometimes the wedding dress bags have really interesting details, and it helps to tell the whole story of the day.

Bride’s to be normally place their engagement ring onto their other hand, I was so pleased to get this  photograph. As we never pose ANY of our photographs we have the ability to know instinctively where we need to be and what will happen next, I love capturing moments that only last a second.

I always make sure to photograph the Bridesmaid dresses too, sometimes as much thought has gone into them as the wedding dress itself. They come in many colours and can make interesting compositions.

The Mother of the Bride doing up the dress is a traditional part of the morning preparations. This photograph is also one of my favourites to capture.

Don’t forget the little bridesmaids either! This dress was so pretty with hanging petals in the stitching of the dress and she looked so happy in it, what girl doesn’t like dressing up!

There are so many wedding options in general that it is sometimes hard to come to a decision on anything. Me and Chris always say as long as its something you love and enjoy then don’t worry about anyone else, its your special day and should reflect your personalities. Happy Wedding planning!

They are asking people to submit one of their wedding photos to then be displayed in a public gallery. I think its such a unique idea, you can view all the ones that have already been submitted on their website, some date back to the 1820′s. Its so nice to look back at the happiest memories of someone’s life, well worth a look!

In the near future here at Sansom Photography will be launching a new website for our Portrait Photography. We both have a passion for capturing genuine expressions and are happy to offer unique photoshoots at a location of your choice. Here are some of our favourite couple shots from a few past weddings. We always love to take the couple off for half an hour or so to get some couple photographs on the day. Weddings go so quickly so its also quite nice for the couple to spend some time together reflecting on the day, for most of the time its the first chance they’ve actually had to sit down and relax!

We never pose any of our couples during these photoshooots, of course some direction is given, but apart from that we let them relax. This is when we get their real expressions – not faked smiles just for the camera! We want all our couples to look back on our albums and have a true representation of the day and not just a bad reminder of what poses you were made to do on the day.

Tori and Peter (above) got married at the beautiful Durham School. Founded by the Bishop of Durham nearly six hundred years ago, the school is one of the oldest in the UK. There is a beautiful on site Chapel which is where their ceremony took place. Leading up to the Chapel are 97 steps, quite a walk! Once at the top you get a beautiful view of the grounds and off into Durham. We both enjoyed Tori and Peter’s wedding and couldn’t wait to share the results with them.

Mark and Rebecca (above) got married at Allerton Castle, Yorkshire. Allerton Castle is a Grade I listed nineteenth century Gothic or Victorian Gothic house at Allerton Mauleverer in North Yorkshire, England. Allerton Castle has 7 principal reception rooms, 45 principal bedrooms, 18 bathrooms, and a chapel. The great hall is 80 feet high, which was so impressive! It now stands in 6 acre grounds, and has a 40,000 square foot ground area. The house was also the site for several exterior shots of the film The Secret Garden (1993), which happens to be one of my favourite childhood films so I was really excited to start photographing! The grand venue was amazing and we had a wonderful selection of photographs from this day, which are all viewable on our website.

Chris and Emily chose Leeds Town Hall for their intimate ceremony and The Loft, Leeds for their reception.  It was a windy day, however as soon as the confetti was thrown something amazing happened the wind captured the coonfetti and it stayed around in mid-air, just hanging, for a good ten minutes long enough for us to get as many photographs as we pleased! Chris and Emily wanted to make a point of having their wedding in the city of Leeds, this meant taking them for a unexpected photoshoot in the dingiest pub they could find! It was such a contrast from Emily’s dress and the dark rooms of the pub, me and Chris loved it! You don’t get many chances like this so we enjoyed every second! This portrait of them (above) was taken outside an abandoned shed, it was the perfect urban backdrop and still one of our favourites! Again their whole album is available to view on our website.

Amy and Mike went all country and vintage for their special day. They hired out a friends field and got amazing PapaKarta marquees to hold the wedding breakfast and reception. Amy had decorated the tables with handmade gifts and decorations which added to the whole theme of their day. We love unique weddings and believe its so important to make them your own and not worry about impressing anyone else. With hay bails and all we loved the look of this rustic fence, it was a perfect vintage wedding backdrop. We always say to our couples we are happy to offer any editing styles, for this one they wanted a vintage feel which was so much fun. Of course vintage editing is not for everyone but its a unique way to make the photographs stand out! We keep our editing clean, simple and timeless but if ever you want that extra effect we can help you out!

Stepehen and Sharon got married at Bagden Hall in the Dendy Dales. Built by a wealthy Victorian mill owner in the 1860s, Bagden Hall is a luxurious West Yorkshire country house hotel in stunning grounds offering elegant accommodation making it an amazing wedding vewnue. It was a perfect summer’s evening so we chose this time to take them for a couple shoot. We love this photograph of Sharon and Stephen, they didn’t pose for this photo and it shows, they look genuinely happy and this is what we love about capturing these precious moments forever.

We are ready to share a few images from our latest wedding, which took place on the 2nd of January. Paul and Virginia chose the city of Lincoln to get married, with the beautiful Cathedral and Castle as backdrops to their day we managed to take them away for a few photos in the beautiful city. It was a bitterly cold day, but the skies were blue and the sun was shinning so no one seemed to mind heading outside for photos! Although we all did have to hurry in and warm up for a while! Myself and Chris had a wonderful, relaxing Christmas and even managed to have a peaceful getaway to Sherwood Forest Center Parcs! Christmas seemed to fly by this year and with our first wedding on the 2nd of January our year of weddings has already begun!

It was a beautiful January day, very luckily I might add!, with clear blue skies and barely any wind. Paul and Virginia chose the city of Lincoln for their wedding, with their hotel overlooking the famous Lincoln Cathedral and impressive Castle. They were both so welcoming and Chris and I had such an amazing time photographing their day, we would both like to thank Paul and Virginia and their families for being so appreciative on the day. We are thrilled with the results, and with a few more days of editing will be able to send them off! Of course we will share them with all of you as soon as possible!

We are looking forward to the new year of weddings we have lined up and even though we are looking ahead to our busiest year yet, we really can’t wait! We are going into our 3rd year of business, which I can’t believe! It’s just gone so quick! It’s so good to look back and realise how much we have accomplished so far, and in such a short amount of time. Chris and I love our job and are always striving for more, improving every wedding we shoot. With referrals from our first year we are so overwhelmed by the comments we receive from our couples and appreciate every single one.  Who knows where 2012 will lead us but we can’t wait for the ride!

We have a new wedding gallery to share with you. Mike and Amy got married in a beautiful small church in West Yorkshire and then headed to their reception in a large TiPi Tent. Amy had decorated the venue mostly herself with handmade decorations, it looked amazing and had a very country, vintage feel. The weather is definitely changing now, the colours of the trees are turning and the mornings are frosty. I love this time of the year, its out favourite time to photograph.
